Social-Emotional Competence of Children for Families

Studies show that children need to learn how to interact positively with others, self-regulate or control their behavior and talk to their peers, family members or adults. By learning about, and better understanding, your child/ren’s range of feelings and how to communicate with others, children learn to effectively communicate their needs to you, when they are feeling frustrated or how your actions may make them feel.

When you observe your children’s challenging behaviors, this can create stress on families, especially when you don’t know how to respond positively to their behavior. In this section, you’ll gain new insights into your child’s behaviors and decision-making processes and can practice new skills that will help them.
